Autumn is a great time to compost.

Any gardener will tell you the summer months are when your compost bin is working its hardest. The warmth speeds up the whole decomposition process and compost is produced in abundance. In the autumn it does slow down. But it doesn’t stop! And neither should you.

Are you still eating fruit and vegetables? Are you still drinking cups of tea? Are you still making eggs for breakfast? If the answer is yes, then keep adding the scraps, bags and shells to your compost bin year-round. Don’t waste this sort of waste; save it up for next year’s borders, pots and hanging baskets.

Anything you can compost and not throw away, saves a great deal of public money that would otherwise be spent on processing waste, as well as giving you bountiful blooms in return.

Until 16 October take advantage of our half price compost bins, which are now just £6.99.
